— ABOUT DIANE
The stories behind the patterns.
I have always been interested in what goes unsaid: the hesitation behind agreement, the assumptions people bring into a room and the stories we tell ourselves to make sense of change.
For thirty years, I worked in and around organisational change. I saw that a plan could look entirely convincing on paper while the human experience of it told another story. Formal roles mattered, of course. So did personal history, informal influence, uncertainty and the conversations that never made it into the minutes.
The official version of a workplace is rarely the whole story.
Today, I turn those observations into fiction, essays and practical resources. Katie Bloom is one way of exploring the contradictions, loyalties and quietly complicated relationships of organisational life — through a character who has to find her own way through them.
Elsewhere on this site, I write about cognitive biases, difficult conversations and human behaviour. I'm not interested in neat answers for complicated people. I'm interested in giving readers another way to notice, reflect and perhaps see a situation differently.
Thank you for being here. I hope the writing stays with you long after you've left the page.
